Subnado
Sea Scooter.
The Subnado Double is a twin-engine electric sea scooter you hold in front of you at the snorkel stop. A finger-ring controller starts and stops it, so your hands stay free and it pulls you along the reef at up to 2 metres a second, about the pace of a fast swimmer, with none of the effort. You cover more of the bay and see more of what lives under the kayaks.

Tick the scooter on the add-ons step when you request your tour. We confirm it along with your date.
Paddle to the snorkel stop
The scooter rides in the kayak with you. Your guide hands it over once the group is in the water.
Sixty seconds of coaching
Slip the finger ring on, hold the scooter in front of you, press to go and release to stop. Three speeds and a cruise mode; most guests start on the slowest.
Glide the reef
Cover the whole stop without tiring, then hand it back before the paddle home. It has plenty of run time for the full stop.
Good to know
Light, quiet, and easy to hand around.
Two Subnado motors on one handle, light enough to pass between guests and quiet enough that the turtles and rays stay put. Press the finger ring to glide, let go to drift and watch, hands free.
Top speed is a brisk swim, about 2 metres a second. It is used at the surface with your life vest and mask on, inside the same area as the rest of the group.
For confident swimmers aged 15 and over, with a short scooter waiver signed at the hub. Offered on the Morning Kayak Tour, 2 per departure, so add it when you request.

Do I need to know how to use one?
No. Your guide shows you in about a minute and you start on the slowest speed. Releasing the finger-ring controller stops it instantly.
Can my child use it?
The scooter is for guests aged 15 and over because of its power and weight. A parent or guardian signs the scooter waiver for 15, 16 and 17 year olds. Younger children snorkel the stop alongside the group as usual.
Can two people share one?
Yes. Guests often take turns during the stop. If you would each like your own, add two to your request and we will hold them if they are free.
What if it is booked out for my date?
We carry a limited number, so we confirm the scooter along with your tour date. If none is free we tell you before anything is charged.
Is it included on sunset or night tours?
It is offered on the Morning Kayak Tour only, where the daylight makes the reef worth exploring.
